Taiwan’s security does not depend on US arms sales to Taiwan, the defense Ministry said in response to us arms sales to Taiwan

Q: The Defense Security Cooperation Agency of the US Department of Defense announced on February 7 that the US has approved the sale of about 100 million US dollars worth of patriot missile defense system equipment and services to Taiwan. What is your comment on that?A: us arms sales to Taiwan, China region, a serious violation of the one-china principle, and the three sino-us joint communiques, especially the “eight” August 17 communique, gross interference in China’s internal affairs and damage China’s sovereignty and security interests, damage sino-us military relations between the two countries, harm peace and stability in the Taiwan straits, China expresses its strong dissatisfaction and resolute opposition, solemn representation to the americans. There is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of The Chinese territory.China strongly urges the US to immediately cancel the arms sales plan to Taiwan, stop its military contacts with Taiwan, and stop sending wrong signals to the “Taiwan independence” separatist forces, so as to avoid serious consequences to china-us relations and military-to-military relations as well as peace and stability across the Taiwan Straits.Taiwan’s future lies in national reunification, and Taiwan’s security depends on the joint efforts of compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits under the One-China principle, not arms sales to Taiwan by the United States. The PLA will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard National sovereignty and territorial integrity, resolutely thwart any form of interference by external forces and separatist attempts for “Taiwan independence”, and continue to advance the process of national reunification.Source: Ministry of National Defense Release process editor: TF021
